WASHING FEET

#2 Foot Washing.jpg

During his final night with his 12 friends, Jesus wanted to give them one final lesson. They had traveled three years together and saw many miracles and heard many teachings from Jesus. He would demonstrate this lesson by showing His friends what true servanthood looks like. Jesus got up from the supper table, set aside his robe, and put on an apron. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the feet of the disciples; but Peter didn’t quite understand this teaching.  Jesus had to tell Peter that this lesson wasn’t about hygiene, but holiness.  He said if you want to live a life pleasing to God, you must be willing to serve one another.

What He showed his friends that night and us today, is to humble ourselves and offer to do a simple task for someone in need.  And one more thing . . . the whole time you’re doing that menial task – think and act as though you’re doing it for Jesus Himself!

Now you will write the name of someone you can serve and what you could do for them on a 3x5 card or piece of paper. Tape it where you can be reminded of it; such as on your refrigerator, a mirror, or elsewhere.
