DEATH

#14 Seventh Word and Death.jpg

Jesus cried out again in a loud voice, “It is finished!” Jesus’ final words meant that His suffering was over and the work His Father had given Him to do was completed.  He had preached the good news about God, worked miracles, and achieved everlasting salvation for His people.  He had accomplished all that God the Father had asked Him to do. The debt of sin was paid.

At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.  When the soldiers guarding Jesus saw the earthquake they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

Revelation 5:3 records Jesus’ words from Heaven:  “All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and His angels that they are mine.”

Draw a heart on a piece of paper and write somebody's name on it that you want living with you in Heaven one day. Say a brief prayer for them right now.
